Target Information

Canine calcitonin gene-related peptide 1 (CGRP-1) is a neuropeptide with diverse physiological functions, primarily involved in vasodilation and modulation of sensory nerve activity. It is expressed in sensory neurons and other cell types, such as motor neurons and neuroendocrine cells. CGRP-1 acts through G protein-coupled receptors, particularly the calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CLR) complexed with receptor activity-modifying protein 1 (RAMP1), which is crucial for its vasodilatory effects. In dogs, CGRP-1 has been shown to influence digestive motility by slowing gastric emptying through its action on CGRP-1 receptors. Additionally, it plays a role in cardiovascular regulation, causing vasodilation and affecting heart rate and blood pressure.
