Target Information
Porcine angiogenin, specifically porcine angiogenin 4 (pANG4), is a novel antimicrobial peptide within the angiogenin family that has been shown to exhibit regulatory effects on intestinal microflora. This peptide, when expressed in Pichia pastoris, demonstrates bacteriostatic activity and does not induce hemolysis or cytotoxicity at concentrations below 128 μg/mL. In intestinal porcine epithelial cell line-J2 (IPEC-J2) and mice models, pANG4 has been found to increase cell activity, reduce apoptosis, lower pro-inflammatory gene expression, and upregulate tight junction protein gene expression during inflammation.
