Target Information
Lymphotoxin-alpha, also known as tumor necrosis factor beta, is a cytokine that binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1, TNFRSF1B/TNFBR, and TNFRSF14/HVEM in its homotrimeric form. When in a heterotrimeric form with LTB, it binds to TNFRSF3/LTBR. Produced by lymphocytes, lymphotoxin is cytotoxic to a broad range of tumor cells both in vitro and in vivo. In rabbits, this cytokine is encoded by the LTA gene. Lymphotoxin-α has an important role in the normal development of peripheral lymphoid organs in mice. It can be hypothesized that lymphotoxin-α may have a similar function in rabbits.
