Target Information
Bovine alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein with functions similar to albumin, primarily known for its ability to bind fatty acids, particularly polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), which is a unique property not observed in other serum proteins like albumin
. In bovine, AFP is synthesized in the liver and the developing gastrointestinal tract, playing a role in embryonic development and potentially in reproduction.
