Target Information
Bovine deoxyribonuclease I (DNASE1), also known as DNase I, is a DNA-specific endonuclease that plays a crucial role in the degradation of DNA. It is secreted by the pancreas and is found in various tissues, including the digestive system where it aids in the breakdown of dietary DNA. This enzyme is capable of hydrolyzing the phosphodiester linkages of both double-stranded and single-stranded DNA into a mixture of mono- and oligonucleotides. In Bovines, DNase I is used in molecular biology applications such as removing DNA contamination from RNA samples, footprinting assays to study protein-DNA interactions, and nick-translation labeling of DNA.
