Enteropeptidase, encoded by the TMPRSS15 gene in cattle, plays a crucial role in the activation of pancreatic proteolytic proenzymes like trypsin, chymotrypsin, and carboxypeptidase A. It specifically catalyzes the conversion of trypsinogen to trypsin, which subsequently activates other proenzymes, including chymotrypsinogen, procarboxypeptidases, and proelastases.
