Target Information
Bovine L-2-hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase is an enzyme that plays a significant role in the mitochondrial metabolism of cattle. It catalyzes the oxidation of L-2-hydroxyglutarate to 2-ketoglutarate, which is a key intermediate in the citric acid cycle. This process is crucial for energy production and maintaining cellular redox balance. In cattle, this enzyme helps regulate the levels of L-2-hydroxyglutarate, which is important for hypoxia adaptation, immune response, and early embryo development. Disruptions in L-2-hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase activity can lead to the accumulation of L-2-hydroxyglutarate, which is associated with various diseases, including cancer and neurometabolic disorders.
