Target Information
Canine epididymal secretory protein E1 (NPC2) is a protein found in the epididymis of dogs, where it plays a crucial role in the maturation and function of sperm cells. NPC2 is involved in the transport of cholesterol within cells, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the sperm membrane and ensuring the viability of sperm as they travel through the epididymis. This protein may also contribute to the regulation of other lipids, which are important for sperm motility and the acrosome reaction. In the veterinary field, understanding the role of NPC2 can help in the development of treatments for male infertility and in the assessment of sperm health.
