Target Information

Feline Choline/Ethanolamine Transporter FLVCR1 (FLVCR1) is a widely expressed transmembrane protein involved in the transport of heme, choline, and ethanolamine. It imports extracellular choline and ethanolamine into cells to initiate the Kennedy pathway for phospholipid synthesis. FLVCR1 also regulates erythropoiesis by controlling intracellular heme levels. Mutations in FLVCR1 are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases, such as posterior column ataxia and retinitis pigmentosa.
