Target Information
Goat Interleukin-12 subunit beta (IL-12β) is a crucial component of the IL-12 cytokine, which is a heterodimeric molecule composed of two chains, IL-12α (p35) and IL-12β (p40). In goats, IL-12β plays a significant role in the immune response, particularly in the activation of natural killer (NK) cells and the differentiation of T helper cells into Th1 cells. This process is vital for initiating and maintaining an effective cellular immune response against intracellular pathogens, such as viruses and some bacteria. IL-12β, by forming the IL-12 cytokine with IL-12α, stimulates the production of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), which further amplifies the Th1 response and enhances the overall immune defense. The activity of IL-12β is essential for the regulation of immune reactions and the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines.
