Klebsiella species are well-recognized as rod-shaped, gram-negative, non-motile, lactose-fermenting, and facultatively anaerobic bacteria within the Enterobacteriaceae family. Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen linked to various complex clinical infections in both humans and animals. Beta-lactamase SHV-1 is a broad-spectrum beta-lactamase which confers resistance to penicillins, as well as first- and third-generation cephalosporins.

User Note
