Target Information
Leptospira interrogans Lipoprotein LipL21 is a surface-exposed, abundant outer membrane lipoprotein expressed during infection and conserved among pathogenic Leptospira species. It is considered an important surface-exposed lipoprotein and the most effective cross-protective immunogenic antigen. LipL21 plays a key role in the immune evasion mechanism of Leptospira, inhibiting the activity of host myeloperoxidase, thereby helping the bacteria resist the host's oxidative stress response and effectively achieving dissemination and colonization.
