Target Information
In the veterinary field, the function of Eimeria tenella membrane-associated calcum-binding protein, related, putative is primarily associated with the attachment and invasion of host cells. EtCab contains specific calcium-binding motifs (EF-hand) and belongs to the CREC family, being highly transcribed and expressed in merozoites. Studies have shown that EtCab significantly affects the adhesion rate to host cells, and specific polyclonal antibodies can markedly reduce the invasion rate of merozoites to host cells. Therefore, EtCab plays an important role in the process of E. tenella invading host cells and is a potential target for the prevention and treatment of avian coccidiosis.
