Target Information
Ovine rinderpest, also referred to as peste des petits ruminants (PPR), is a contagious disease mainly impacting goats and sheep, though it can also affect camels and wild small ruminants. The nucleoprotein forms the helical nucleocapsid (NC) in a ratio of one nucleoprotein per six ribonucleotides, safeguarding the genome from nucleases. The encapsidated genomic RNA acts as a template for both transcription and replication, with encapsidation by the nucleoprotein occurring concurrently with RNA synthesis.
