Target Information

Mouse Complement C3 (C3) is a central component of the complement system, which is part of the innate immune response. It is synthesized in the liver and circulates in the plasma as an inactive precursor. Upon activation, C3 is cleaved into C3a and C3b, which play distinct roles in immune defense. C3b opsonizes pathogens and debris for phagocytosis, while C3a acts as an anaphylatoxin, inducing inflammation and attracting immune cells. C3 is involved in the clearance of immune complexes and apoptotic cells. Dysregulation of C3 has been implicated in various immune-mediated diseases, including autoimmune conditions and infections.
