Target Information
Swine lipopolysaccharide binding protein (LBP) inis a soluble pattern recognition molecule that plays a pivotal role in the innate immune response, particularly against gram-negative bacterial infections. LBP binds to lipopolysaccharide (LPS), facilitating its transfer to cell surface receptors such as CD14, which triggers immune responses. This protein acts as a carrier that enhances the interaction between LPS and its cellular receptors, leading to the production of inflammatory mediators and the initiation of host defense mechanisms against bacterial endotoxins.
