Target Information
Mouse Myeloid Cell Surface Antigen CD33, or CD33, is an antigen expressed on myeloid cells, involved in immune cell development and function regulation. In mouse models, CD33 is used to study its roles in immune responses and hematological diseases. CD33 is a member of the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin family and functions as a inhibitory receptor that can modulate the activity of myeloid cells. In leukemia, CD33 is commonly expressed on the surface of blast cells and has been targeted for therapeutic interventions using monoclonal antibodies conjugated with cytotoxic agents. Research on CD33 also extends to understanding its role in normal hematopoiesis and immune regulation, as dysregulation of CD33 signaling can lead to impaired immune responses and hematopoietic disorders.
