Target Information
Swine coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) is a coagulation protein that plays a central role in the blood clotting process. It is part of the intrinsic pathway of coagulation and is essential for converting prothrombin to thrombin, which then catalyzes the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin, leading to clot formation. FVIII works in conjunction with von Willebrand factor (vWF) and activated factor IX (FIXa) to form the tenase complex, which accelerates the activation of factor X (FX). This complex is crucial for the amplification of the coagulation cascade.
