Target Information
Swine endothelial protein C receptor (EPCR) is a cell surface transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the CD1/major histocompatibility complex class 1 superfamily. It is specifically expressed in endothelial cells and is capable of high-affinity binding to both protein C (PC) and activated protein C (APC). EPCR plays a crucial role in the regulation of blood coagulation by accelerating the conversion of PC to APC, mediated by the thrombin/thrombomodulin complex. Additionally, the APC-EPCR complex promotes the activation of protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR-1), which is involved in various cellular responses, including anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and wound healing effects.
