Target Information
Swine insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that plays a critical role in regulating glucose homeostasis. It facilitates the entry of glucose into cells, particularly in muscle and adipose tissue, by binding to insulin receptors and triggering a cascade of intracellular reactions that result in the translocation of glucose transporters to the cell membrane. Insulin also promotes the synthesis of glycogen from glucose and the uptake of amino acids, and it inhibits the breakdown of glycogen and the release of glucose into the bloodstream.
