Target Information
Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is an illness resulting from the tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), which leads to a severe neurological infection in humans across Europe and Asia. Ticks, along with rodents and insectivores, serve as the primary reservoir hosts for TBEV, though domestic animals can also contract the virus. In rare instances, the virus may transmit to humans through the consumption of raw milk or cheese from infected goats, sheep, or cows.
