Target Information

H6 avian influenza viruses (AIVs) typically lead to asymptomatic infections in waterfowl. Outbreaks of low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) A(H6) virus in birds are not required to be reported internationally, making its actual prevalence unclear. However, LPAI A(H6) viruses have been found in a variety of wild waterfowl and domestic poultry species across Eurasia and the Americas. The recognized subtypes of A(H6) viruses include LPAI A(H6N1) and A(H6N2).
