Target Information

Flavobacterium columnare is a slender Gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium belonging to the genus Flavobacterium. It is one of the earliest recognized diseases affecting warm-water fish and is commonly referred to as columnaris when it causes infections. These infections rank as the second leading cause of death in pond-raised catfish in the southeastern United States.
