Target Information

Bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1), also referred to as Bovine herpesvirus 1, is a member of the Herpesviridae family and the Alphaherpesvirinae subfamily. It is responsible for causing a variety of cattle diseases globally, such as rhinotracheitis, vaginitis, balanoposthitis, abortion, conjunctivitis, and enteritis. The virus typically enters the host through the mucous membranes of the respiratory or genital tracts. The primary method of transmission is through direct contact, particularly nose-to-nose interaction, between infected and susceptible cattle.
