Target Information

Bordetella parapertussis is a small Gram-negative bacterium belonging to the genus Bordetella, specifically adapted to colonize the respiratory tract of mammals. There are two lineages of B. parapertussis: one infects humans and accounts for a smaller portion of pertussis (commonly known as whooping cough) cases, while the other, the ovine lineage, causes chronic nonprogressive pneumonia in sheep.
