Aeromonas salmonicida is a Gram-negative bacterium responsible for furunculosis, a bacterial disease that impacts multiple fish species and leads to significant economic losses in the aquaculture industry. One of its subspecies, Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. achromogenes, is known to cause "atypical furunculosis," which is marked by skin ulcerations and external symptoms, sometimes accompanied by septicaemia.
