Target Information

Canine Lysine Specific Histone Demethylase 1A (LSD1/KDM1A) is a FAD-dependent enzyme that plays a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression through its demethylase activity. It removes methyl groups from mono- and dimethylated lysine 4 on histone H3 (H3K4me1/2) and occasionally lysine 9 (H3K9me1/2), which are modifications associated with active gene transcription. LSD1's action counterbalances the methylation marks added by histone methyltransferases, thus playing a critical role in the dynamic regulation of chromatin structure. It can also demethylate non-histone proteins, including the tumor suppressor p53.
