Target Information
Porcine apolipoprotein A1 (APOA1) is the major protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in pigs, playing a crucial role in lipid metabolism and transport. It facilitates the efflux of cholesterol from tissues to the liver for excretion, thereby impacting reverse cholesterol transport. APOA1 also serves as a biomarker for cardiovascular diseases and is implicated in the regulation of lipid homeostasis, lipid transport, and the modulation of Rho protein signal transduction. Its functions are not only limited to lipid metabolism but also extend to potential anti-coagulant properties as it is a stabilizer of prostacyclin.
