Target Information

Porcine actinin alpha 2 (pACTN2), also known as α-actinin-2, is an essential component of the cytoskeleton in muscle cells, particularly in pigs where it contributes to the structural stability and function of muscle fibers. This protein belongs to the spectrin superfamily and acts as a cross-linker within the Z-discs of sarcomeres, which are the basic units of muscle contraction. pACTN2 plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of muscle cells by anchoring actin filaments and providing mechanical strength to the muscle. It is highly expressed in fast-twitch muscle fibers, which are responsible for rapid, powerful movements, and its expression levels can influence muscle performance and meat quality in pigs.
