Target Information

Porcine CD1 is a family of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-like cell surface glycoproteins found in pigs. Similar to its human counterpart, pCD1 is involved in antigen presentation, particularly to T lymphocytes, and plays a role in the immune response to certain pathogens. pCD1 molecules are responsible for presenting lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells, including a subset of T cells known as natural killer T (NKT) cells. This presentation is crucial for initiating immune responses against certain intracellular bacteria and parasites, as well as for modulating immune reactions.
