Target Information

Porcine cofilin 1 is an actin-binding protein that plays a pivotal role in the dynamic remodeling of the cytoskeleton in pig cells. It is particularly influential in the regulation of actin filament turnover, which is essential for various cellular processes such as cell motility, endocytosis, and cytokinesis. pCofilin1 promotes the disassembly of actin filaments by severing and depolymerizing them, thus increasing the availability of monomeric actin for new filament assembly. Its activity is tightly regulated by various mechanisms, including phosphorylation, which inhibits its actin-depolymerizing function.
