Target Information

Porcine cytokeratin 19 (KRT19), a member of the cytokeratin family, is an intermediate filament protein expressed in epithelial cells of pigs. Cytokeratins are crucial for maintaining the structural integrity and mechanical properties of epithelial tissues, providing resilience and resistance to physical stress. KRT19 is particularly notable for its expression in simple epithelia, such as those found in the lungs, liver, and gastrointestinal tract, as well as in the basal layer of stratified epithelia. It plays a critical role in cell adhesion, cell signaling, and the organization of the cytoskeleton, which are essential for proper tissue function and repair.
