Target Information
Porcine golgi reassembly stacking protein 2 (GORASP2), also known as GRASP65, is a protein that plays a pivotal role in the structure and function of the golgi apparatus in cells. It is one of the two GRASP proteins in mammals, the other being GRASP55, and both contribute to the formation and maintenance of the Golgi stack structure. GORASP2 is essential for the reassembly of the Golgi apparatus after cell division, particularly during the late stages of mitosis and early interphase. It does this by forming oligomers that act as an adhesive "glue" between adjacent Golgi cisternae, holding them together in a stack. The protein is also involved in linking Golgi stacks into a ribbon-like structure, which is crucial for the proper functioning of the Golgi apparatus in protein trafficking and post-translational modifications.
