Specifications
Target Information
I kappa B-alpha, also known as NFKBIA, is a pivotal regulatory protein in the NF-kB (nuclear factor kappa B) signaling pathway. It functions as an inhibitor of NF-kB, a family of transcription factors that regulate genes involved in immune responses, inflammation, and cell survival. In its inactive state, NF-kB is sequestered in the cytoplasm by binding to I kappa B-alpha. In response to various stimuli, such as pro-inflammatory cytokines or cellular stress, I kappa B-alpha is phosphorylated and subsequently degraded by the proteasome, releasing NF-kB to translocate to the nucleus and activate target genes.
