Target Information

The environmental pathogen Mycobacterium ulcerans is known to infect both humans and animals, leading to Buruli ulcer (BU) disease. BU continues to pose a significant public health challenge in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. Numerous reports have documented the presence of BU in both wildlife and domestic animals in Australia, suggesting that animals might play a role in transmitting MU to humans.
