Target Information

Bovine apolipoprotein A1 (apoA-I) is a major structural component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), playing a vital role in reverse cholesterol transport and cellular cholesterol homeostasis. It is synthesized primarily in the liver and is key in the process known as "cholesterol reverse flow," which involves the transport of peripheral tissue cholesterol back to the liver for excretion. ApoA-I activates enzymes like lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP), facilitating HDL metabolism and maturation. It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, contributing to the reduction of cardiovascular disease risk by protecting the vascular endothelium and reducing LDL oxidation.
