Target Information
Sheep fetuin A, also known as alpha-2-heremans-schmid glycoprotein (AHSG), is a major plasma glycoprotein synthesized primarily by hepatocytes. It is involved in multiple physiological processes, including regulation of insulin sensitivity, inhibition of calcification, and modulation of inflammatory responses. Fetuin A consists of two polypeptide chains derived from a single proprotein and is known for its roles in endocytosis, brain development, and bone tissue formation. Additionally, it acts as a calcium chaperone, preventing ectopic calcification and maintaining tissue integrity. In sheep, Fetuin A may also serve as a biomarker for metabolic and inflammatory conditions due to its association with insulin resistance and tissue calcification.
