Target Information

The canine coronavirus nucleoprotein (N) is a key structural protein of canine coronavirus (CCoV), playing a crucial role in virus assembly and replication. It binds to the viral RNA genome to form a ribonucleoprotein complex, stabilizing the genome. In veterinary medicine, the N protein is highly expressed during early infection and induces strong antibody responses, making it an ideal target for serological detection of CCoV. It is widely used in diagnostic methods such as ELISA and Western blot to identify infected dogs. Additionally, the N protein's antigenic sites are being studied to develop more specific and sensitive diagnostic tools.
