Target Information

Feline leukemia virus gag polyprotein (gag) is a critical component of the FeLV virus, involved in viral assembly, replication, and particle formation. In veterinary medicine, gag is used as a target for vaccine development, particularly in the form of virus-like particles (VLPs) that can induce strong cellular and humoral immune responses. These VLPs based on gag have shown promise in preclinical studies, although challenges remain in eliciting neutralizing antibodies. Additionally, gag is used in diagnostic assays to detect FeLV infection and study viral pathogenesis.
