Target Information
In veterinary medicine, Canine Natriuretic Peptides B (NPPB) is used to assess cardiovascular health in dogs. NPPB is a hormone produced by ventricular myocytes, with functions including promoting sodium and water excretion, vasodilation, and inhibiting renin and aldosterone secretion. In dogs, NPPB and its precursor proteins (e.g., NT-proBNP) are important biomarkers for heart disease, particularly in diagnosing heart failure and monitoring disease progression. For instance, NT-proBNP levels are significantly elevated in dogs with myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) and correlate with disease severity. Additionally, NPPB can help differentiate heart disease from other respiratory conditions
