Target Information

Feline endothelin-2 (EDN2) is a potent vasoconstrictor peptide that plays a key role in ovulation and reproductive processes in cats. It is transiently expressed by granulosa cells in ovarian follicles prior to ovulation, promoting follicular rupture and oocyte release. EDN2 acts through endothelin receptors (EDNRA and EDNRB) to induce smooth muscle contraction, facilitating ovulation. In feline medicine, understanding EDN2 helps manage reproductive disorders and optimize fertility treatments.
