Target Information

Influenza A viruses (IAVs) of the H9 subtype are endemic in regions such as Asia, the Middle East, and parts of North and Central Africa, where they contribute to substantial economic losses in the poultry industry. H9N5 is a specific member of the H9 avian influenza viruses. The hemagglutinin (HA) protein, a homotrimeric glycoprotein found on the surface of influenza viruses, is crucial for the virus's infection capability in hosts. The HA1 subunit, which contains a receptor binding site, facilitates the virus's attachment to specific sialyl sugar chains on the host cell surface.
