Target Information
Sheep hemoglobin subunit beta is a crucial component of hemoglobin, which is the primary oxygen-carrying protein in the red blood cells of sheep. It plays a vital role in oxygen transport and delivery to tissues throughout the body. This protein subunit is part of the tetramer structure of hemoglobin, composed of two alpha and two beta globin chains (α2β2), and is responsible for binding oxygen in the lungs and releasing it in the tissues
.In addition to its role in oxygen transport, hemoglobin subunit beta has been implicated in resisting pathogen invasion and regulating natural immunity, suggesting a broader role in the innate immune response of sheep.
