Cryptosporidium andersoni infects the abomasum of cattle, producing oocysts that are similar in appearance yet slightly smaller than those of C. muris. This parasite typically infects post-weaned beef and dairy calves, as well as mature cattle, and can persist for years, potentially lasting a lifetime.
