Target Information

Avian influenza (AI) viruses are classified according to two types of proteins: hemagglutinin ("H") proteins, which range from H1 to H16, and neuraminidase ("N") proteins, which range from N1 to N9. The H6N6 subtype of avian influenza virus (AIV) is widespread in wild birds and poultry and has gradually expanded its host range to include mammals, such as swine.
