The Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is a positive-stranded enveloped RNA virus that belongs to the family Flaviviridae. It primarily transmitted through mosquitoes, particularly those of the Culex species. Pigs and wild birds act as reservoirs for this virus. JEV can cause illness in horses, donkeys, and pigs.
