Cowpox is an uncommon ailment in cattle, triggered by an orthopox virus. It manifests as blisters, pustules, and scabs on the teats and udder. The Cowpox virus (CPXV) mainly exists in Europe and is sustained within a rodent reservoir, including voles, mice, and potentially rats. Besides cattle, the cowpox virus can also infect cats, humans, and other species.
