Target Information

Rotaviruses were discovered in the feces of a foal suffering from diarrhea in 1975 in Great Britain. Equine rotavirus harms the intestinal lining, hindering food digestion and absorption. It is a leading cause of diarrhea in foals under six months old. Infection occurs when foals consume or lick items or surfaces contaminated with infected feces.
