Caprine alphaherpesvirus 1 (CpHV-1) is a virus species that infects goats globally. This virus is known to induce systemic and respiratory symptoms in young goats (kids) and can lead to abortions in adult goats. Similar to other members of its genus, CpHV-1 replicates in the respiratory tract and is capable of establishing latent infections.
