Target Information
Salmonella enterica serovar Dublin (S. Dublin) is a bacterium specifically adapted to cattle and is increasingly found in dairy operations. It poses significant risks to cattle health, leading to high rates of illness and death in young calves, as well as decreased performance in adult cattle. Salmonellosis in animals consistently presents a potential risk of transmission to humans. In regions where S. enterica Dublin is prevalent, there have been serious human illnesses linked to the consumption of raw milk from infected cows that carry the bacteria.
